Hi there! My name is Bill Downey and I am the sole owner and operator of Blogs Gone Wild! I am a web designer, html/css coder and advanced user in Photoshop. I have a webmasters certification and I specialize in working with the WordPress and Blogger platforms. I also have extensive experience in converting existing business website designs into blog layouts that perfectly match my clients websites.
Even though I have played around with web design for nearly 15 years, it didn’t become a serious profession until about 6 years ago. At that time I was seriously disabled and I was looking for a new way to be able to support myself. I was no longer able to work as an automotive computer technician. Fortunately, I received a grant to go to a community college where I completed a 150 hour course for webmasters certification. I passed with a 98% and that certificate is now framed above my office desk.
I’m a native of New Orleans, La. and some of you may know me by my nickname se7en or seven. I decided to drop the nickname recently and go with my real name for a change. The nickname was actually a mispronunciation of a French nickname that was given to me by some Cajun friends many years ago. I had started out using seven as my anonymous name on my web log when I first started writing it about 6 years ago. When I later started Blogs Gone Wild! it was easy for the nickname to be carried over from there.
I am a terrible artist (I can’t draw worth 2 cents!) but I am an advanced Photoshop user and I love manipulating images to incorporate into my design work. Hand coding my design to html and css is also a great deal of fun for me. I do not, nor have I ever used any type of coding programs to write my layouts. I believe the best way is to write it out by hand in Notepad, anything else just wouldn’t be fun! Everything that you see in my portfolio pages was done by me over the past 5+ years. It has been a great learning experience and I really enjoy the satisfaction that comes with designing websites and blogs that make my clients happy.
Thanks and let me know what I can do for you!
